One of the worst feelings is trying to tell someone they hurt you and having them make you the villain for bringing it up.
You’re not trying to fight. You just want them to understand how their actions affected you. But instead of listening, they get defensive.
They twist your words. They bring up things you did wrong. Suddenly you’re apologizing for having feelings. It happens over and over. Every time you try to communicate, you end up feeling like the problem. Like you’re too sensitive, too needy, too difficult for wanting basic understanding.
So eventually you stop trying. Not because you’re okay with how things are, but because you’re exhausted from begging someone to care about your feelings. You learn it’s easier to stay quiet than to speak up and be made wrong for it. That’s how relationships die.
Not from the hurt itself, but from one person giving up on being heard.
