I feel that people meet each other for a reason.
Have you ever thought so? Not by coincidence, but
as if something quietly guided us. A friend you happened
to sit next to. A stranger you spoke to by chance.
Someone you met only once long ago may unexpectedly
return to your life. In Japan, we call this goen -
a special connection. Goen is more than just an encounter
or a link. Every moment and every meeting we experience
has a reason and a meaning. This belief comes form the
Buddhist idea of inga - cause and effect.
We are not here by our own strength alone. We are shaped
by those who walked before us, supported by the people
around us, and helped by countless kindnesses.
Within the word goen, there is humility and quiet,
deep gratitude. That's why we cherish our connections
and say, "I'm grateful for this connection."
Even the smallest encounter has the power to change
our story.
