My greatest fear is not that machines will become like human beings.
My fear is that human beings will become like machines.
This is already beginning to happen. From the need to adapt our way
of being in the world to the machines with which we are obliged
to waste so much of our time. Even if the highly specialized and
sophisticated machines of the tycoons save them time and money.

For them, time is money. For us, our time is nothing less than life.
And wasting our time machines waste away our lives.

The first step on the path to machinehood is believing, that we are,
in essence nothing more than machines. And this brings me back to
question of how we attend to the world and to ourselves since this
governs what we believe it is we find there.

The left hemisphere representation is theoretical, two-dimensional,
black and white, rigid and inflexible. If we can hang on in the face
of all this, to what the right hemisphere sees and knows, all can
become four-dimensional again. Regain it's truth, its goodness and
its beauty, and once more love what is sees.

For this to succeed, it is imperative that we maximize freedom of
thought and expression. Whitout it, the machines, will have won.
