As a Taoist, I never urge others to cultivate.
Cultivation has never been something achieved by persuasion.

Some are drawn to the mountain breeze,
others remain devoted to the warmth of the human world.
Our standpoints differ, our lives unfold along different paths,
so I dare not lightly use the word “cultivation”
to disturb another’s ordinary days.

I know the weariness of running after daily meals,
I understand the quiet grievances left by trivial burdens,
and I know too well the hardship of wiping away tears
when no one is around to see.

You need not seek some grand Tao,
nor prove any profound truth.
If you can slowly turn present suffering into sweetness,
if you can rest at night with a steady heart and untroubled sleep,
that alone is the most grounded form of cultivation in this world.

Such a person
is already walking within the Tao.

So I only wish to softly offer you these words:
- May you be well, fellow traveler of the Tao.
May blessings arise without limit, by the Celestial Venerable.

Don't know nothing 不知道人
